Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday postponed Patha Utsav scheduled on December 22 due to incessant rain triggered by depression over the Bay of Bengal.
The next date and venue for Patha Utsav will be announced by the BMC very soon.
“Due to prevailing bad weather conditions… The Bhubaneswar Patha Utsav on 22nd December 2024 i.e tomorrow is postponed. The next date and venue will be communicated,” the BMC said in a post on X.
The Patha Utsav was scheduled to be held at 6 am at Master Canteen Square on December 22 (Sunday).
The road show highlighting various cultural events was to focus on the18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, scheduled to be held in the city from January 8 to 10 in new year, official sources said.
Apart from music and dance, other events including quiz, skating, yoga and cycling were to be held on the road from the Master Canteen to Ram Mandir.
It may be noted that the BMC had launched Patha Utsav in 2016 to engage people in cultural and other activities during the winter.
Last year, the Patha Utsav was started on Christmas with a focus on the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup. It was held at Ratha Road in the Old Town area of Bhubaneswar.
