Lucknow: The controversy over the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ refuses to die.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last week asked the film’s makers to implement changes in the film, including its songs, following growing demand objecting to some portions of the song and Deepika’s saffron attire.
Now, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of UP’s Bahraich district has waded into the controversy and advised the Director General of Police (DGP) to get clippings of ‘Besharam Rang’ and other ‘obscene’ contents removed from the social media as it is having a detrimental impact on the psyche of adolescents.
CWC Bahraich (bench of magistrate) has written to the DGP stating that it has taken suo moto cognizance of obscene contents being circulated on social media, using powers given under the relevant section of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.
The four-member bench headed by Bahraich CWC president Satish Kumar Srivastava has said that smart mobile phones had been provided by UP government to teenagers for their all-round development, but they can’t be stopped from watching easily available contents.
Hence, in their best interest, it is necessary that obscene contents be removed from social media, the letter stated.
