Patient, Ambulance Helper Killed In Road Mishap

Bhadrak: A patient and the helper were killed and another seriously injured when an ambulance van hit a roadside tree near Ugratara on Bhadrak-Chandbali road late on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Upendra Sahu (50) of Kandagaradi village and the helper of the ambulance van Pramod Parida while Bijay Sahu, son of Upendra Sahu, has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.

According to sources, the family had admitted Upendra Sahu to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chandbali on Thursday night after he fell ill. But as the doctors at the CHC referred him to the district headquarters hospital, he was being taken to Bhadrak when the mishap took place.
