Bhawanipatna: A woman patient and another person were killed after an ambulance dashed against a tree in Junagarh area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district early on Monday.
According to reports, the 108 ambulance was carrying a patient, Sumitra Durga of Kapurmal village under Jaipatna police station limits to the District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawanipatna when the mishap took place near Mahichala
The 55-year-old patient, who was reportedly suffering from diarrhea, and Dambur Sabar, a staff of the emergency service vehicle, were killed in the accident. Three family members of the patient who were in the ambulance sustained injuries..
On being informed, a team of police personnel reached the village and rushed the occupants of the ambulance to a hospital where doctors declared the two dead, while the rest were given medical treatment.
Police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation.
