Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Tuesday announced financial assistance of Rs 6 lakh each to the next of the kin of the two labourers from Odisha, who died in Patna metro tunnel collapse incident on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj Behera of Gochabadi village under Rasang Panchayat in Nayagarh district and Bijay Behera of Kadua village.
The CM also expressed deep grief over the incident and expressed his condolences to the families.
Seven workers from Odisha were engaged at the construction site. Two among them died after brakes of a loco pickup failed a Patna Metro construction site near the exit of National Institute of Technology (NIT) on Ashok Rajpath. Another labourer from the state sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital,
On Tuesday, Labour Minister Ganesh Ramsingh Khuntia had informed that DLO Satyanarayan Acharya has been directed to visit the mishap site in Patna and take the necessary steps to bring the bodies back to Odisha. He added that the labourers would be provided compensation, amounting to Rs 6 lakh as per the provisions, if they have labour cards.
