Balangir: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch (CB), probing the much-talked-about parcel gift blast case, has laid its hand on another vital evidence against the prime accused, Punjilal Meher.
Informing the media on Monday, Crime Branch IG, Arun Bothra said the SIT has got another conclusive evidence on Punjilal’s visit to Raipur on February 15.
“Some passengers of the train in which Punjilal had travelled to Raipur have identified him. They have informed the Crime Branch police about it. We have identified these passengers,” he added.
The IG further said that the SIT has also got evidence on Punjilal’s departure from Kantabanjhi railway station. “We had examined footage of the CCTV camera installed at the vehicle parking area outside the railway station. Punjilal can be seen parking his bike before boarding the train to Raipur in the footage,” he pointed out.
Earlier on May 15, the owner and staff of two courier companies of Raipur had identified him during a test identification (TI) parade at the sub-jail at Patnagarh.
The Patnagarh SDJM court on May 11 had summoned Harbinder Singh Saluja, owner of the Skyking Courier and a female staff of the DTDC Courier of Raipur, asking them to remain present at Patnagarh sub-jail on May 14.
Acting on the directive of the court, the duo had arrived at the sub-jail the following day when the SIT conducted the TI parade of Punjilal in presence of a local magistrate. During the TI parade, the duo identified him.
The prime accused, during the second-phase remand, was taken to Raipur by the SIT where had given a demo on his modus operandi.
