New Delhi: A day after Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Santunu Sen tore papers related to the Pegasus controversy in Rajya Sabha, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday accused the Bengal party of a “culture of violence”.
“TMC has a culture of violence in Bengal. They have targeted BJP leaders and workers in Bengal after the election. Now, they are trying to bring the same culture to Parliament,” Vaishnaw told reporters.
He added that the incident in Rajya Sabha would set a bad precedent for future parliamentarians.
On Thursday, Rajya Sabha witnessed bedlam and was adjourned after Santanu Sen of TMC tore papers that appeared to be copies of Vaishnaw’s statement on the alleged snooping using an Israeli company spyware Pegasus.
Sen then flung the torn papers at Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh. The TMC MP was later suspended for his unruly behaviour in the House.
