Bhubaneswar: Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty on Sunday made it clear that no prediction has been made so far regarding the formation of cyclone.

Therefore, there is no reason for people to panic, she said, adding that a low-pressure area is likely to form over south-west Bay of Bengal around May 22.

Stating that a clear picture will emerge only after low-pressure area forms, Mohanty said it is too early to make any forecast as the system is yet to develope.

As already stated, the low-pressure area is likely to move initially north-eastwards and concentrate into depression over central parts of Bay of Bengal around May 24.

The weather agency has said that several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm in next couple of days and severe heatwave has been warned in the interior parts of the state for at least three days from Monday.

The districts included Nuapada, Balangir, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh where the temperature is likely to rise past 40 degree Celsius.
