Cuttack: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the people of the country have reposed their faith in the BJP-led NDA government.

“The four-year rule of the BJP-led NDA government has made the people to believe that there can be a wave of change in the Hindustan in the coming days. In the last four years, there has been a change in the mode of administration. The government has been able to provide good governance to the people,” he said while addressing the Jana Kalyan Samavesh at Bali Yatra ground here in the afternoon.

As the leaders of the NDA government have come from the poor family, they know the plight of the poor.

Highlighting the achievement of his government, Modi said 18000 villages in the country have been electrified while free electricity has been provided to four crore houses.

He also spoke about the centrally sponsored schemes like the Beti Bachao, Ujjwala and Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojana.

Claiming that the country is now governed by a government of commitment, the prime minister said the NDA government, instead of confusing the people, has given commitment to the people.

“We have committed the people to fight against the black money of thousands of crores which the corrupt people and leaders have stashed in various banks in foreign countries,” he added.

He said in the last four years, the anti-corruption wing has raided nearly 3000 places and traced black money worth Rs 53,000 crore. This has triggered a sense of fear among the corrupt elements.

The raid has unmasked some corrupt political leaders and among them, four former chief ministers are now languishing in jail.

Taking a potshot at the leaders who are on a vilification campaign against the NDA government, Modi said they are trying to create unrest. Hinting at the Congress, he said had Mahatma Gandhji and Sardar Patel brought independence to create unrest in the country which is mired in nepotism and corruption?

Referring to the Paradip oil refinery, he said the project which had begun during the prime ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was stalled by the Congress-led UPA government. However, the mega project was completed during the tenure of the BJP government at the Centre.

Talking about the left wing extremism in the country, Modi said the number of Naxal-affected districts has come down from 126 to 90 due to continuous operation by the police and the central forces.

He said the NDA strongly believes that development and good governance are the constituents of good politics.

On agriculture sector, the prime minister said his government has a target to double the income of the farmers by 2022.

He also said the railway connectivity has been extended to the north-eastern states while road connectivity is going on in full swing in the country under the Sagarmala Yojana.

“In the last four years I know how one can achieve the goal through strong willpower. Our mission is not completed and it will continue,” he said before winding up his speech.

The prime minister later left for Bhubaneswar in the evening from where he left for New Delhi.

The tour schedule of the prime minister was delayed by an hour. The prime minister arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at 4.30 pm in a special flight. From the airport, he left for Cuttack in an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter and arrived at the Bali Yatra ground.
