Bhubaneswar: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar is all set to start a PET-CT scan facility on its premises in the next two months.
The process for installation of the machine at the premier hospital has already started and civil as well as other works are in progress, stated AIIMS Medical superintendent Dr Sachidananda Mohanty in a release.
The hospital had placed order for the machine in March but the works got delayed due to second wave of COVID-19, the release mentioned.
With this, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar will be the first public hospital in the state to install the PET-CT, stated Dr Mohanty.
The PET-CT machine is crucial in treatment of cancer patient and other critical surgeries.
Once installed, this will benefit poor patients of the state who depend on the hospital for serious illnesses.
