Bhubaneswar: Fuel prices jumped up further in the Odisha capital on Thursday with petrol becoming dearer by 59 paise per litre and diesel costlier by 40 paise per litre.
As of Thursday, petrol was selling at Rs 98.85 per litre and diesel at 96.54 per litre in the city. The prices were Rs 98.26 per litre and Rs 96.14 per litre, respectively, on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has blamed the previous UPA government policies for the current hike in fuel prices.
The minister said the earlier Congress-led had left oil bonds worth crores for repayment, which is why the current BJP-led government has to pay both its interest and principal price. “This is also a big reason for the rise in fuel prices,” Pradhan was quoted as saying by news agency on Wednesday.
