Bhubaneswar: The prices of petrol and diesel will go up from Sunday as the State Government has increased the VAT rate on both the items from Saturday night.
The VAT has on petrol has been increased from 26 per cent to 32 per cent and that on diesel from 26 to 28 per cent. Following the revision of VAT rate, the petrol will cost Rs 71.69 per litre against the present rate of Rs 68.58. Similarly, the diesel will cost Rs 67.73 per litre while it was selling at Rs 66.70 under old VAT rate.
The last revision of VAT rate on both the petroleum products was made from 23 to 26 per cent on January 5, 2016.
