Bhubaneswar: The petrol price crossed Rs 100 per litre in the Capital City on Friday even as there was no hike in the diesel price.
The petrol was sold at record Rs 100.01 per litre and the diesel at Rs 97.25 per litre. The petrol saw an an increase of 36 paise from Thursday price of Rs 99.65.
In Cuttack city, petrol and diesel were sold at Rs 100.27 and Rs 97.50 per litre respectively.
Coming a day after increase in bus fare, the rise of petrol price evoked sharp reaction from the people. “Both the Central and state governments are responsible for the rise in petrol price. It would put a strain on the budget of common people,” said a customer in the city.
The petrol price has remained above Rs 100 per litre in 20 districts with Malkangiri witnessing the highest of Rs 105.08.
