Bhubaneswar: In a bid to check sudden spurt of petrol theft, the special squads of food supplies and consumer welfare department conducted simultaneous raids at different petrol pumps here on Tuesday.
During the raid on at least 14 petrol pumps in the state capital, fuel filling irregularities were found in two petrol pumps located on Puri road and they were penalized.
“Four squads carried out the inspection basing on the complaints from customers that they are being cheated by several petrol pumps by installing a chip-based device that dispenses less fuel. Similar raids will be carried out in different parts of the state in a phased manner,” food supplies and consumer welfare minister Surya
