New Delhi: Pfizer will seek authorisation from the US for the third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine. It said on Thursday that another jab in a year’s time could boost immunity dramatically and could be effective in tackling the latest COVID-19.
Research in many countries shows that Pfizer vaccines offer strong protection against the highly contagious delta variant of the COVID vaccine.
According to The Associated Press, Pfizer’s Dr Mikael Dolsten said on Thursday that early data from the company’s booster study suggests people’s antibody levels jump five- to 10-fold after a third dose, compared to their second dose months earlier.
Pfizer is contemplating asking the Food and Drug Administration for emergency authorization of a third dose in August, Dolsten said.
