Cuttack: A post graduate student of Ravenshaw University has been arrested for her alleged links with gangser Mohammed Sakil. It may be recalled that two months back, the Sadar Police had arrested a Plus II student of Cuttack City College on charges of links with the gang.
The Commissionerate Police arrested 24-year-old D. Surya Prakash Tandi from a hostel of Ravenshaw University. He had given shelter to Barun, an associate of Sakil, last week at his residence in Badakenduguda village, Kalahandi district.
After Sakil was arrested and sent to jail, Barun, along with other associates of the gangster was carrying out extortion and other criminal activities. The police were on the lookout for Baruna in connection with an extortion case last month.
The police came to know about Barun’s whereabouts with the help of a mobile tracking system and raided D. Surya Prakash’s house in Kalahandi. However, Barun managed to escape.
Later, on Tuesday, the police arrested D. Surya Prakash.
