Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited movie ‘Phalguna Chaitra’ by director duo Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenaki Singh Rajput will hit theatres across Odisha on March 12.
After crime thriller ‘Charitra’ and travel love story ‘Daalcheeni’, Sisir and Peenaki have delved into the family drama genre with this movie. The director duo, who are known for original content and visual storytelling, shot the film in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Jeypore districts in about 25 days during the rainy season. “The story is the hero of the film which celebrate core values of a typical Odia family. The plot revolves around an incident which takes place during ‘Phalguna Chaitra’ month as per Hindu calendar and corresponds with February/March in the Gregorian calendar,” said Sisir.
He added that they have tried to maintain authenticity and freshness, and showcase the typical Odia culture, which people in every household would relate to such as spending time with grandparents during vacations and eating meals together as a family.
The filmmaker further said that it will be the first Odia movie will be released commercially in Australia at 3 centres (Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane).
Earlier speaking to Odisha Bytes, Partha said, ” It is a romantic family drama with deep family bonding. Odia cinemas are proceeding ahead with heavy VFX-driven films, action, comedy, and sci-fi. The core values of a typical Odia family are something that we all miss in today’s life. It is a family story narrated in a poetic way.”
The star cast includes Choudhary Jayprakash Das, Partha Sarathi Ray, BM Baisali, Ananya Mishra, Sukant Rath, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Manisha Manjari Mishra, Kailash Panigrahi, Bhaswati Basu, and Chandan Biswal. While Sakti Jagdev is the producer, the story has been written by Dr Sulagna Mohanty.
‘Phalguna Chaitra’ has five songs, which have been composed by Kaushik, Ehsan, and Abhishek while the lyrics have been penned by JP Wordsmith, Sumit Panda, and Sthitha Pattnaik. Gaurav Anand, Kuldeep Pattanaik, Aisharwya Kumar, Rituraj Mohanty, and Ananya Nanda have lent their voice to the songs.
