Parlakhemundi: A pharmacist was found hanging at his official quarter in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Behera of Gumna village under Serango police limits. He was working as a pharmacist at Khajuripada Community Health Center (CHC).
According to sources, Khajuripada police received a telephone call from a CHC staffer about the incident at around 11 pm.
Police said they were informed over phone that Behera returned to his quarters after finishing his hospital duty around 9 pm. But when his colleagues went to his quarters to invite him for dinner, they found the door locked from inside. They got worried when he did not respond to their repeated calls and informed the police.
Cops broke open the door and found him hanging from a ceiling fan.
While the body was sent for postmortem, investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death.
