Baripada: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped for nearly 8 days in Karanjia area of Mayurbhanj district. The incident came to light after the girl’s parents filed a missing FIR at Karanjia police station.
The girl’s statement was recorded in the JMFC court on Wednesday and manhunt launched to nab the accused.
According to the complaint, the girl went missing on March 30. After the efforts of her parents to find the girl went in vain, hey filed a case on April 3. Three days later, on April 6, the girl was rescued. The girl, who is speech challenged, was spotted walking on a deserted road and rescued by some locals.
More than 10 days after the case was first filed police had allegedly failed to nab accused. However, on Wednesday they produced the girl in JMFC court where the girl identified the accused from Whatsapp images shown to her by the police.
Karanjia SDPO said two men are involved in the gangrape. They have been identified, he said assured to nab the accused in 24 hours.
