Cuttack: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in Orissa High Court on Monday to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of Goods & Service Tax (GST).
Eight oil companies, including Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, have been made party in the PIL filed by social activist Surendra Panigrahi.
Panigrahi has demanded that the GST Council should hold a discussion on frequent hike in petrol and diesel prices and find out a permanent solution for the same.
