Cuttack: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in Orissa High Court on Monday against the lethal online Blue Whale game.
Acting on the PIL filed by Shiv Shankar Mohanty, the court has served notices to Central and State Secretaries of IT and Telecom asking them to furnish details of measures initiated to check the spread of the deadly game.
The Odisha Home department secretary, DGP, Crime Branch chief and Police Commissioner have also been asked to keep their stand regarding the online game.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for September 18.
Earlier in the day, two students of Barapada School of Engineering and Technology in Bhadrak district were caught playing Blue Whale Challenge. They were counselled by police so that they don’t play the game further.
Commissionerate Police had recently issued an advisory for parents to prevent their children from falling prey to the ‘Blue Whale’ challenge.
