Cuttack: With the murder of Minister Naba Das allegedly by a policeman triggering a political row, a voluntary organisation has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court seeking a CBI investigation.
In the PIL filed by Bharatiya Vikash Parishad (BVP) has claimed that the ongoing probe by the Crime Branch of Odisha police probe is unlikely to be fair.
The Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, CBI and the Crime Branch have been made parties in the case, sources said.
The PIL comes amid opposition attack on the state government over the mysterious killing of the Health Minister. Both BJP and Congress have been demanding a CBI probe into the murder claiming that a fair and impartial investigation cannot be expected from the Crime Branch.
It may be noted here that the Minister was allegedly fired at by Gopal Das near Gandhi Chhak at Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda district on January 29. Naba Das was first rushed to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital and then airlifted to Bhubaneswar, where he succumbed to bullet injuries at a private hospital the same evening.
