Bhubaneswar: A mall in Bhubaneswar has introduced ‘pink parking’ bay to make the shopping experience pleasant for its women shoppers.
The Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall here has created a special parking bay, where only women will be allowed to park their vehicles. Besides, the authorities have also installed wall mirrors for women visiting the mall.
The initiative has been welcomed by the city’s women.
“We have been getting appreciation from everyone around us. We hope other malls get inspired by us and do the same,” said Director of Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall Purnima Vaid.
Welcoming the gesture, Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath said there has been a rise in women driving cars and dedicated parking space for them is a welcoming initiative. “We hope more such parking spaces come up in and around malls and other places across the city and we are able create sustainable structures essential for growth of a lively city.”
