Balangir: The water from Lower Suktel Irrigation Project is likely to be supplied to Balangir town through pipeline next year, said local MLA Narasingh Mishra.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Mishra said the construction work of the project, which was started in February this year, is moving at slow pace and is likely to be completed by 2024.
After the dam construction is completed by 2024, it will take another year to supply water by pipe.
After attending a review meeting of the project officials at Circuit House here, Mishra said he has directed them to provide all rehabilitation benefits of the state government to the displaced people at one time so that they can vacate their place.
He also directed them to ensure that the rehabilitation colony has all basic facilities, falling which the people would be reluctant to leave their homeland. He would visit the project area to take stock of the progress of the work soon, the Congress MLA added.
