Piped Water Supply Scheme To Be Operational In Odisha’s Balangir Next Year

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government targets to operationalise the ongoing mega piped water supply scheme in Balangir district from December, 2024.

This was revealed during the visit of secretary to chief minister (5T) VK Pandian to the district on Sunday. The scheme is implemented with a cost of Rs 1,020 crore in Patnagarh, Titlagarh, Saintala, Gudvela, Balangir, Puintala and Deogaon blocks.

While these projects will be operationalised in phases from December 2024, the water supply improvement projects in Balangir and Titlagarh municipalities will be completed by October, Pandian said.

He reviewed the ongoing in stream storage structure projects coming up at a cost of Rs 950 crore in Titlagarh sub-division, the Upper Lanth project and expansion of ayacut area of Lower Indra project.

The secretary reviewed the Tusura air strip modernisation proposal and directed district collector Chanchal Rana to prepare a DPR for development of the air strip.

Pandian visited the Samalei Temple at Tusura and interacted with servitors, trustee members and general public for holistic development of the temple. He took suggestions on various aspects of transformation of the temple including better facility for the devotees. He directed the district administration to prepare a DPR in this regard.

He heard grievances of public, various groups and individuals in Patnagarh, Belpada and Titilagarh.

Pandian also visited Kumuda Pahada and Lord Dhabaleswar temples. During his visit to Harishankar temple, he reviewed the ongoing project for development of the temple area at a cost of Rs 55 crore. The project will be completed by December, 2023.

He then visited Mission Shakti Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) complex and interacted with Mission Shakti SME SHG groups and reviewed all the 7 units functioning. He also visited the Mission Shakti group which is operating the Panth Nivas and the bus service.

He interacted with Plus II and degree college students of the district at Rajendra University playground in Balangir town. He Informed them that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved inclusion of 69 higher secondary schools and 28 degree colleges under 5T transformation programme at a cost of Rs 40.5 crore.

Special Secretary to chief minister R Vineel Krishna, IG Deepak Kumar, collector, SP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo and other district officials accompanied Pandian during the visit.
