Bhubaneswar: Two days after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the name of Rudra Pratap Maharathy as BJD candidate for the ensuing bypoll to Pipili constituency, the latter met him at Naveen Nivas on Sunday.
Accompanied by his sister Pallavi, brother-in-law Ardhendu and two senior leaders Pranab Balabantray and Debi Prasad Mishra, Rudra met the Chief Minister and sought his blessings.
The Chief Minister later handed him the party ticket.
Talking to mediapersons, Rudra said the Chief Minister advised him to work for the people and development in his constituency.
Refuting the media report on the misunderstanding among his family members over his candidature, he said it was a rumour. “My family is fully with me and we are committed to the development of our constituency,” he pointed out.
