Puri: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has maintained its lead after the third-round counting of votes for the bypoll to the Pipili Assembly constituency.
According to the official report, the ruling party candidate, Rudra Pratap Maharathy, is ahead of his nearest rival and BJP candidate Ashrit Pattanayak by 5,044 votes at the end of the third round counting.
While Maharathy received 13611 votes, Pattanayak polled 8567 votes. Congress’ Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra got 1180 votes.

Vote share after 2 rounds: BJD (56.18%), BJP (35.54%) and Congress (6.10%).
In 2019 polls, BJD had a vote share of 50.66% followed by BJP (41.62%) and Congress (5.63%).
