Puri: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has taken the early lead in the first round counting of votes for the Pipili bypoll.
According to reports, the ruling party candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy is ahead of his rival BJP candidate Ashrit Pattanayak and Congress candidate Biswokeshan Harichandan by 1406 votes at the end of the first-round counting.
While Maharathy has received 4055 votes, Pattanayak and Harichandan have garnered 2649 and 766 votes, respectively.
