Puri: The counting of votes for the Pipili bypoll at Penthakata in Puri town was underway amid tight security on Sunday.
Till reports last came in, the counting of 1077 postal ballots began at 8 am and concluded at 8.30 pm.
The counting of votes exercised in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) is underway in 14 tables in two halls while the counting of votes in the VVPAT is going on in one hall.
To maintain the law and order situation, a three-tier security arrangement has been made at the counting centre.
Out of a total of 1,79,980 voters, 95,383 male voters and 84,597 female voters have exercised their franchise.
There was a record voter turnout of 78.25 per cent in the bypoll that was held on September 30.
