Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the former minister requested those who had come in contact with me in the last few days to get themselves tested.
Earlier in the day, Odisha BJP President Samir Mohanty, School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash and Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir Kumar Samal had tweeted to inform that they had contracted the virus.
Maharathy is the 24th BJD MLA to have tested positive. Former Badamba MLA of the party Debi Prasad Mishra was also infected.
Besides Samir Dash, minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, Tukuni Sahu, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Susanta Singh, Arun Kumar Sahu and Padmini Dian have also tested positive.
Two BJD MPs Ramesh Majhi (Nabarangpur) and Manjulata Mandal (Bhadrak) had also caught the infection.
