Pipili Voters In Odisha To Seal Fate Of Candidates Electronically Tomorrow

Puri:  At least 2,29,998 voters in Pipili constituency will decide the fate of ten candidates in the fray by exercising their franchise through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) Thursday, beginning 7 am. The voting will end at 6 pm.

The official machinery has been geared up to make elaborate arrangements such as erecting tents, making security provisions, fixing directions and signages for polling booths and special provisions for physically challenged voters, the old and infirm among others.

At least 924 senior citizens and physically challenged persons have despatched their postal ballots to the election authorities. Polling personnel are expected to come back from their respective polling stations and hand over the EVMs and other equipment to officials at Penthakost Warehouse till late at night.

Earlier, District Collector and Election officer Samartha Verma who had reviewed the polling arrangements with officials sought the cooperation of all voters to ensure a free and fair elections in the constituency. Additional District Collector Pradeep Kumar Sahu, DRDA project director Jyothisankar Mohapatra and Deputy CollectorJitendra Kumar Patra were present at the review meet.

Counting of votes will be taken up on October 3 and by October 5 the election process would be completed.
