Athagarh: Residents of Cuttack’s Athagarh are observing a 12-hour bandh on Thursday in protest against a proposal to bring 71 villages under the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA).
The bandh is being observed from 6 am to 6 pm. All offices and business establishments have been closed. Police forces have been deployed at various places.
The Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department had on March 31 issued a notification proposing to bring the villages belonging to seven blocks of the district under CDA.
As per the proposal, 71 villages of Tangi-Choudwar and Athagarh block, 58 villages of Cuttack Sadar and Baranga block, 9 villages of Salepur block, 4 villages of Kantapada block and 3 villages of Banki block will be included under CDA.
