Cuttack: Plans are afoot to make arrangements for playing devotional music for the mental wellbeing of the patients undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
According to sources, the authorities have decided to play bhajans in the intensive care units (ICUs) of the premier hospital. A proposal in this regard has recently been approved by the executive body of the hospital.

Stating that music therapy plays a significant role in the recovery of patients, a senior official of the hospital said that playing of devotional songs will create a divine atmosphere and positive energy inside the ICUs.
Some members of the executive body had given a proposal to play instrumental or slow music inside the ICUs stating that such music therapy would have a positive impact on the patients. Considering all aspects, the proposal was approved, he said.
To begin with, it has been proposed to play the devotional songs of popular Odia singer late Bhikari Bal.
The hospital has a total of 213 ICU beds and the music facility will be available in all units.
This apart, a sound system will be installed on the hospital premises to create awareness regarding keeping the campus clean and avoid throwing garbage, sources said.
