New Delhi: Raksha Bandhan is exactly a month away.
In case you want to send Rakhi by post on auspicious occasion, India Post has offered some timely tips.
Urging people to utilise its seamless international mail services for dispatching Rakhis across the globe, India Post strongly advises them to plan Rakhi shipments by July 31 to ensure that they reach the beloved brother before August 19.
Following are the do’s and don’ts issued by India Post to navigate complexities of international mailing and minimise the likelihood of delays and Customs-related hitches:
* Securely package Rakhis to protect them from potential damage in transit.
* Use proper address label and write/type the complete address neatly with accurate zip code/ post code. Mention of your mobile number is encouraged.
* Accurately disclose contents of your package on Customs declaration form to expedite the clearance process.
* Avoid sending restricted items such as flammable materials, liquids, or perishable goods, as they may be subject to confiscation.
Further, India Post also suggested incorporating Harmonized System (HS) codes for Rakhi-related items for enhanced expediency in Customs clearance and parcel delivery.
HS codes are not compulsory for non-commercial shipments, but their inclusion can significantly streamline customs procedures, according to India Post.
