Puri: A piece of plaster came loose inside ‘garba gruha’ or the sanctum sanctorum of Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri on Tuesday.
The loose plaster, weighing around 1.5 kg, fell close to ‘Ratna Singhasan’ near Lord Balabhadra.
No one was injured in the incident.
“After ‘Sakala Dhupa’ yesterday, at around 11:30 am a chunk of plaster fell from the wall behind ‘Ratna Singhasan’ of Lord Balabhadra. We have apprised the ASI. ASI officials will take necessary steps after inspection,” Puri Srimandir Administrator (Development) Ajay Jena said.
An ASI team inspected the sanctum sanctorum on Wednesday.
The temple administration also clarified that no stone came loose and fell inside the sanctum sanctorum.
