Chennai: The platform ticket fare was raised in eight major railway stations of Chennai division on Thursday as a measure to avoid overcrowding during the festive season.
The Southern Railway issued an official statement mentioning that the fare has increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20 per person.
The increased cost of platform tickets will be effective from October 1 till January 31, 2023, stated the notice.
Following are the railway stations of Chennai division where the platform ticket fare has been raised:

2. Chennai Egmore
3. Tambaram
4. Katpadi
5. Chengalpattu
6. Arakkonam
7. Tiruvallur
8. Avadi
