Bhubaneswar: Cases of obscene photos or videos of people being uploaded on social media are increasing. The accused is often someone known to the victim.
In the latest case, a Plus 3 student was arrested by the Commissionerate Police from Berhampur for allegedly making viral an obscene video call with a minor girl.
The student was arrested after the girl’s parents lodged a police complaint.
The accused had befriended the girl on Facebook, after which they had exchanged their WhatsApp numbers and kept in touch. After the girl’s family objected to their friendship, the student allegedly threatened to make her obscene photos and calls public.
He allegedly created a social media account in the girl’s name where he posted her obscene videos and photos.
