Plus II Girl Student Drugged & Raped In Balasore

Balasore: A man allegedly drugged and raped a Plus II first year student of Gopalpur college at Digbhanra village under Khandapada police limits in Balasore district on July 28.

The accused identified as Kanhucharan Jena of Soro is absconding.

The matter came to light after he family members of the survivor filed a complaint at Khandapada police station on Thursday. The police sent the girl for medical examination and are further probing the matter.

In the complaint, the survivor alleged that Jena tricked her into visit his house while she was on her way to the college. He gave her intoxicants and raped her repeatedly.

The girl, however, managed to escape and narrated the ordeal to her parents following which a Kangaroo Court was convened. The meeting, however, remained inconclusive and the family members then approached the police for help.

Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Khandapada police station Sriballav Sahoo, who is investigating into the matter, said that a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit.
