Berhampur: A Plus II girl student died after allegedly pouring petrol on the body and setting herself afire at a village in Aska area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
The shocking incident reportedly took place at Bhetanai village under Aska block of the district. The girl was a student of Ahalya Devi Junior Women’s College at Ballipadar.
The incident took place when she was reportedly alone in the house and her charred body was found lying on the floor later. Neighbours informed the police. The body has been sent for postmortem.
The girl’s father works in Surat and mother was engaged in the field.
The circumstances that led to the incident are yet to be ascertained and the police have launched an investigation..
