Plus-II Science Student Of City-Based College Commits Suicide

Bhubaneswar: A student of Triveni Plus-II Science College here allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison.

The deceased was identified as Rudhi Nandan Pradhan, a second year student of the college and a resident of Gambharimunda in Khurda.

According to sources, the college authorities had rusticate Rudhi following a clash and vandalism on campus on July 7. When he returned to college after completion of the rustication period, a teacher, Niranjan Das, allegedly humiliated him and asked him to return to his village.

After returning to his village, he consumed poison on Tuesday. His family members took him to a nearby hospital in a critical condition, but he died during treatment.

His family has lodged a complaint at Chandaka police station. They also accused police of inaction.

When contacted, the college authorities refused to comment on the matter.
