Kendrapada: A Plus-II student was charred to death after coming in contact with an 11kv wire at a coaching centre in Marshaghai area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district late on Tuesday.
He has been identified as Debi Prasad Dash (16), a resident of Gopinathpur village in Badakula panchayat of Mahakalapada block. Five other students also sustained minor injuries in the incident, sources said.
Dash used to reside at the coaching centre. The incident occurred while the students were doing some work on the balcony of the centre. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared Das dead. The other students are currently under treatment.
“At around 11.10 pm, the boy accidentally came in contact with an 11kv wire while on the balcony of the coaching centre. Family members of the deceased have submitted a written complaint in this connection. The owner of the coaching centre is being interrogated,” informed Marshaghai police station IIC Jyoti Ranjan Samantaray.
