Plus II Student Kills Relative With Sword For Opposing ‘One-Sided Affair’ In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old boy was detained on Thursday on charges of slitting the throat of a relative in Khandagiri area of Odisha capital for opposing alleged his one-sided love affair.

The deceased has been identified as Jagat Mallik, a resident of Raghunath Nagar. The accused minor is a Plus II student, who stays in the neighbourhood.

According to sources, the minor boy attacked Jagat with sword while the latter was returning home on his two-wheeler late on Wednesday. His body was found 100 metres away from his house with blood splattered along the way. The accused then went and surrendered before police.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Jagat had warned the boy to mend his ways and even beaten him up after finding out that the latter was pursuing his niece.

Police said the father of the accused had a criminal antecedent. The minor boy is being interrogated and probe is underway, Khandagiri IIC informed.
