Odisha Plus II Exam Cancelled, CHSE To Award Best Paper Marks

Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das on Wednesday announced that the pending Plus II examinations in Odisha have been cancelled in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister made the announcement after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) took the decision in this regard with the Central government extending the lockdown restrictions to schools and colleges.

For the papers whose examination could not be conducted due to the lockdown, the CHSE has decided to adopt the assessment scheme announced by the Supreme Court on the basis of the suggestions made by a committee of CBSE.

As per the scheme, the best performance of the students in the examination papers already held will be taken as a yardstick to declare the results, sources in the CHSE said.

In case of Science students who have appeared at more than three papers, the average marks in best three papers will be awarded for the papers whose examination has not been conducted.

Similarly, for the students who have appeared at only three papers, the average marks obtained in best two theory papers will be awarded for rest of the papers.

The Council will also conduct an optional examination in the subjects, whose examinations were scheduled to be held from March 23 to 28 as soon as the state government takes a decision to open the educational institutions for the students considering the COVID-19 situation.

The candidates whose results will be declared based on the above assessment scheme will be allowed to appear in these optional examinations to improve their performance. The marks obtained in the optional examinations will be treated as final for those examinees.

CHSE had postponed Plus II  examinations in the streams of Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational courses from March 23 till further order due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
