Lucknow: Infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh got another major boost on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway.
This expressway will link Bundelkhand area to Delhi, through the Agra-Lucknow expressway and Yamuna expressway.
The 296 km-long Bundelkhand Expressway has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 14,850 crore. The project has been completed in 28 months, eight months before its schedule, the PM having laid the foundation stone at Chitrakoot on February 29, 2020.
It’s the second important expressway that has been completed in UP in the last 8 months. The even longer Purvanchal Expressway, opened by the PM last November, has reduced travel time between Lucknow and Ghazipur fro 6 hours to 3.5 hours.
“The local economy will benefit tremendously. There will be great industrial development in the region and this would bring more opportunities for the local youth,” Modi said about the latest expressway in UP.
The expressway currently has four lanes, but can be expanded up to six lanes.
The expressway extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district to Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with Agra-Lucknow expressway. It passes through seven districts — Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya, and Etawah.
