New Delhi: There was good news for farmers on New Year’s day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 10th instalment of financial benefit for them under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
An amount of Rs 20,000 crore was transferred to more than 10 crore farmer families at an event through video conference on Saturday. Nine chief ministers, a number of ministers from different states and representatives from agricultural institutions attended the virtual event.
Modi also released an equity grant of Rs 14 crore to 351 farmer producer organizations (FPOs). Over 1.24 lakh farmers will benefit from this grant.
PM-KISAN scheme was announced during the Budget in February 2019.
