New Delhi: Prime Minister Naraendra Modi interacted with sarpanchs from across the country via video conferencing on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas.
The Prime Minister inaugurated e-GramSwaraj portal (simplified work-based accounting application for Panchayati Raj) and a mobile application, Swamitva, saying it will be very useful for village people.
“Earlier we used to interact face-to-face, but now we are interacting through video conferencing due to coronavirus. It has taught us that we have to self-reliant because otherwise handling such an untimely crisis would be difficult,” the PM said.
“A self-dependent panchayat will help building a powerful democracy, thus ensuring that development reaches even the unreachables,” he added.
Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was also present during the video conferencing.
