Kendrapada: The poll-bound Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha will witness a flurry of activities in the coming days with the likely visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other national BJP leaders.
Speaking to the media, BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Kendrapada Baijayant Panda on Wednesday said that PM Modi’s rally will be attended by 4 lakh party workers and people of the constituency. “Odisha is also experiencing the Modi wave as the Prime Minister is seeking a transformative third term at the Centre,” he said after attending a meeting at Mahanga.
Besides Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and CMs of UP and Assam Yoigi Adityanath and Himanta Biswa Sarma are also likely to campaign for BJP candidates in Kendrapara Lok Sabha and Mahanga Vidhan Sabha constituency, he added.
Baijayant, who has won the seat twice in the past, is pitted against BJD’s Anshuman Mohanty and Congress’ Siddhartha Swarup Das. After two successive wins in 2009 and 2014 on BJD ticket, Baijayant walked out of the regional party in 2018 after months of strained ties and joined the BJP in March 2019. He contested the last election as saffron party candidate but lost to BJD’s Anubhav Mohanty in 2019 by 1.8 lakh votes.
