PM Modi Interacts With Students Of IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi Campus

Bhubaneswar: After a host of key bilateral pacts were signed between India and UAE, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with first batch of students from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D)–Abu Dhabi campus on the first day of his two-day trip to the West Asian country on Tuesday.

Addressing the students in the campus, Modi said, “This not only begins a new chapter in bilateral collaboration between India and the UAE, but also brings the youth from the two countries together.”

The new campus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is a collaboration between the (IIT-D) and Abu Dhabi Department of Education & Knowledge (ADEK). The first academic programme of the campus, Masters in Energy Transition and Sustainability, was started in January this year.

Earlier on the day, the Indian PM was given a ceremonial welcome and received at the airport by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed. The two leaders then had several meetings and witnessed the exchange of eight agreements between the countries including on electric trade, digital payment platform and a bilateral investment treaty.

They also introduced Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services in Abu Dhabi.

Modi will be in the UAE from February 13 to 14 after which he will proceed to Doha, Qatar.
