Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Odisha to attend the celebrations marking two years of the BJP-led government in the state, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Pujari confirmed that the state government has extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for a special programme planned to commemorate the occasion. “He may give a date and participate in the event,” he said.
Pujari further noted that detailed performance reports from various departments are being prepared and will be presented to the people during the anniversary celebrations. Senior leaders, including the Chief Minister, have been reviewing departmental achievements ahead of the events. “The CM will make these reports public during the 10 day-long celebration. Ministers have been asked to hold press conferences and release leaflets detailing successes in their respective departments. Those will also be presented to PM Modi if his office confirms his visit to the state,” he said.
This would be another notable visit by PM Modi to the state, following his trip on June 20, 2025, for the first anniversary, during which he inaugurated and laid
foundation stones for development projects worth nearly Rs 19,000 crore.
The BJP government, headed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, assumed office in June 2024 after defeating the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the assembly elections.
Meanwhile, a preparatory meeting chaired by Chief Minister Majhi decided that the anniversary events will be observed in a simple, austere manner without pomp or grandeur. This approach reflects the government’s emphasis on financial prudence and controlling unnecessary expenditure, especially amid the current crisis-like situation due to developments in West Asia.
The celebrations are scheduled from June 12 to June 21, with programmes planned at both state and district levels. The government will focus on showcasing its key achievements and welfare initiatives rather than large-scale festivities. Preparations include compiling detailed performance reports from various departments, which will be presented to the public through print, electronic, and social media, as well as booklets and pamphlets.
The events will be organised around seven key themes: Shakti Odisha, Samriddha Krushi Odisha (Prosperous Agriculture Odisha), Susta Odisha (Healthy Odisha), Nirmal Odisha (Clean Odisha), Utkarsha Odisha (Excellent Odisha), Janashakti Odisha (People’s Power Odisha), and Kaushal Odisha (Skilled Odisha). The government also plans to highlight its long-term vision and goals for the decade 2026–2036.
Chief Minister Majhi stressed that the achievements belong to the people and directed efforts to ensure every citizen is informed about the government’s work.
