Thereafter, the PM set out on a 2km-long roadshow, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Thousands lined the streets, cheering and waving at Modi and Yogi as their nicely-decorated open vehicle made its way from Sugriva Fort to Lata Chowk.
“The hearts of the people of Ayodhya are as big as Lord Shri Ram. Greetings to the people who came to give blessings in the roadshow,” Modi posted on X with pictures and video.
Life-size cutouts of Modi and Yogi, and pictures of deities were put up along the roads which were decked up with floral arrangements.
Security was tightened in the temple town as thousands of devotees travelled to Ayodhya to witness the Modi roadshow.
Ayodhya will vote in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections, on May 20.
